one of the cells of the gastric glands; it lies on the basement membrane, covered by the chief cells, and secretes gastric intrinsic factor and HCl, the latter of which reaches the lumen of the gland through fine intracellular and intercellular canals (canaliculi).
One of the large peripheral cells of the mucous membrane of the stomach that secrete hydrochloric acid.
