A gene on chromosome 5q23.2 that encodes peptidylprolyl cis-trans isomerase C (cyclophilin C), which, as with other PPIs, accelerates protein folding. It catalyses the cis-trans isomerisation of proline-imidic peptide bonds in oligopeptides.
In this context, a recent comprehensive study of the OVCAD (OVarian CAncer Diagnosis) consortium, analyzing a cohort of 216 patients, found that peptidylprolyl isomerase C (cyclophilin C) (PPIC)positive CTC were significantly more abundant in platinum-resistant than in platinum-sensitive patients (32).
"The goal should be to increase the number of students who can benefit from this pathway, and then see whether additional approaches can be devised to better serve those who may not be able to take advantage of it," said co-author Nancy Shulock, executive director of IHELP an adjunct fellow at PPIC.
"While state tax increases face the dual challenges of voter distrust and partisan differences, most Californians support a tax increase on the wealthy and tax increases to avoid more cuts to local schools," says Mark Baldassare, PPIC's president and CEO.
