PICO

(pī'kō)
An acronym used in formulating patient-centered questions. What is the Patient, Population, or Problem? Which Intervention is being considered? What Comparator to this intervention will be used? What Outcome will be measured?

PICO,

n acronym for diagnostic questions based on these four areas of knowledge and action: Patient or problem;
Intervention, cause, or prognosis;
Comparison or control; and
Outcome. This evidence-based method is designed to make a valid, successful decision based on the skills and knowledge of the clinician, the values of the patient, and the best available evidence.
Picornaviridae
n one of the major ribonucleic acid virus families, to which the polio-, rhino-, entero-, and hepatitis A viruses belong. Viruses in this family have a single-stranded, nonsegmented, linear molecular structure with icosahedral symmetry.

PICO Extreme FPGA extends high level synthesis technology to FPGA devices, enabling the implementation of dramatically larger and more complex FPGA sub-systems, such as video codecs, wireless modems and imaging pipelines, from untimed C algorithms with QoR comparable to manual designs.
Synfora is demonstrating the enhanced PICO Extreme design tools at the Electronic Design and Solution Fair 2010 (EDSFair2010) in Yokohama, Japan, January 28 - 29 (Booth 116).
04 of PICO Extreme FPGA and PICO Extreme are available now.
Synfora's PICO C Synthesis tool offers designers of large, complex subsystems productivity gains at the highest-level design abstraction and delivers high quality of results (QoR).
The new generation of high level synthesis represented by PICO Extreme FPGA enables more complex algorithms to be created more efficiently, using a more intuitive design style, than our previous solutions," said Simon Napper, president of Synfora.
The PICO High Level Synthesis Platform provides productivity gains by creating application accelerators from an untimed C algorithm at the highest level of abstraction.
Xilinx was instrumental in setting objectives and providing guidance to drive PICO Express FPGA to meet stringent QoR targets.
Working closely with the industry's leading FPGA provider has been critical to optimize the PICO platform to the FPGA space, where there are significant differences from ASICs," said Simon Napper, president of Synfora.
PICO Express FPGA is based on Synfora's innovative PICO platform, which has already been production-proven in the ASIC domain.
