ACER3

A gene on chromosome 11q13.5 that encodes a ubiquitously expressed multipass membrane-bound enzyme of the alkaline ceramidase family, which hydrolyses phytoceramide into phytosphingosine and free fatty acid; it is activated by Ca2+, inhibited by Zn2+ and highly expressed in placenta.
