MPP5

A gene on chromosome 14q23.3 that encodes palmitoylated membrane protein 5, a member of the membrane-associated guanylate kinase homologs (MAGUK) family. MAGUKs interact with the cytoskeleton, regulating cell proliferation, signalling pathways and intracellular junctions; they are involved in tumour suppression and receptor clustering by forming multiprotein complexes with distinct sets of transmembrane, cytoskeletal and cytoplasmic-signalling proteins.

They found that two proteins within the apical complex, Pals1 and Pten, were interacting with the Igf1 receptors in the stem cells, relocating the receptors to the boundary between the stem cells and the CSF.
