PAK1

A gene on chromosome 11q13-q14 that encodes a PAK protein of the serine/threonine p21-activating kinase family, which are key effectors that link RhoGTPases to cytoskeletal reorganisation and nuclear signalling. PAKs serve as targets for the small GTP-binding proteins Cdc42 and Rac; PAK1 regulates cell motility and morphology.

In our previous study, we found that curcumin could suppress proliferation and invasion in human gastric cancer cells by downregulating PAK1 activity and cyclin D1 expression (Cal et al.
149) In this study, the authors found that the effect of NF2 was related to repression of cyclin D1 promoter activity via PAK1 inhibition.
At the membrane, the enzyme PAK1 (p21-activted kinase 1) phosphorylates (attaches a phosphate molecule that activates the coactivator) SRC-3, allowing it to function at the membrane," said O'Malley, responsible for identifying the first receptor coactivator and advancing the field in general.
He sits in his shop in Peterborough, Cambs, with the slogan PAK1 writ large across his chest and the Star and Crescent emblem - a symbol of the Islamic faith - on everything from bags to beanie hats.
