Oxbridge

A popular portmaneau of Oxford and Cambridge Universities, referring to them collectively. Both were founded 800 years ago, have their own printing houses, similar collegiate structure and are rivals in debating, famous alumni and in rowing. Widely regarded as the best of the UK’s universities, Oxbridge implies superiority of education and social status.
