Detected VOCs were pentanal, hexanal, octanal, [alpha]-pinene, [beta]-pinene, borneol, heptane, heptadecane, and octadecane. Of the amount of VOCs detected, aldehyde accounted for 36 percent (hexanal > pentanal > octanal), terpene for 40 percent ([alpha]-pinene > [beta]-pinene > borneol), and alkane for 24 percent (heptane > heptadecane > octadecane)
The VOCs were quantified using externa l standards 1 -pentanal, hexanal, 2-heptanone, octanal, [alpha]-pinene, camphor, (-)-borneol, hexadecane, heptadecane, and octadecane. The chemicals used in this study for the collection and analysis of VOCs were methylene chloride, formaldehyde, methanol, formic acid, acetic acid, propionic acid, butyric acid, hexanal, [alpha]-pinene, [beta]-pinene, octanal, D-limonene, borneol, naphthalene, hexadecane, heptadecane, and octadecane.
