The residue was mixed with 2 ml phenoldisulfonic acid, followed by 20 ml distilled water and 7 ml concentrated NH4OH and waited until maximum yellow color was developed.
The stripping agents (0.1 mole L-1 solutions of NaOH, NaHCO3, NH4OH) were prepared by adding 0.2 g, 0.4 g, 0.5 g of the respective compound in deionized water.
The solution was then cooled and neutralized with a dilute NH4OH solution in the presence of 1-2 mL of 0.01 %(w/v) tartrate solution.
Briefly, cyclohexane, 1-hexanol, Triton X-100, 20 mM Rubpy dye solution, TEOS, and 30% NH4OH were mixed together and stirred (1500 rpm) in a 50 mL flask for 24 h.
The anthraquinones presence was detected on appearance of pink, violet or red coloration subsequent to exposure to NH4OH of the mixture containing benzene and aqueous plant extract being acidified with 1% HCl.
The solution was then cooled and neutralized with dilute NH4OH in the presence of 1-2mL of a 0.01% (w/v) tartrate solution.
