Chinese medicine
A perennial aquatic herb which is highly regarded in traditional Chinese medicine as it is a symbol of purity and spirituality; lotus seeds are haemostatic, nutritive, tonic to the nerves and regarded as an aphrodisiac; lotus seeds are used for diarrhoea, fatigue, heart failure, insomnia, menstrual disorders, pancreatitis, sexual dysfunction and STIs.
