National Institute for Health Research

A body created by the UK Department of Health (DH) to support outstanding individuals working in world-class facilities who are conducting leading-edge research focused on the needs of patients and the public. The NIHR works with key partners involved in different elements of NHS Research to benefit patients, society, the NHS and all relevant stakeholders. An extensive and dynamic NIHR Clinical Research Network portfolio of cancer studies is maintained in liaison with the main cancer funders, the NCRI Clinical Studies Groups and other research groups and networks across the UK.

Both sides discussed issues of common interest, stressing cooperation between the Interior Ministry and NIHR to support the efforts aimed at fostering human rights in Bahrain.
The NIHR funding will enable them to design a larger study to evaluate the programme.

Discussions also focused on the need to boost cooperation between both sides to build capabilities through providing training programmes and support to NIHR.
She explained that some of the complaints filed by expatriates through the NIHR's hotline or walk-ins were related to residency violations and non-payment of wages.
"This MoU looks to not only train employees at the NIHR but to also outline training for various bodies and NGOs in Bahrain," he said.
Malallah Al-Hammadi joined NIHR Rights and Public Liberties Committee.
NIHR chairwoman Maria Khoury said climate and the environment had also been incorporated due to the importance of sustainable development.
