The percentages of n-pentane and heptane were highest (p<0.01) in AN, while the KC and HO breeds had similar percentages of these compounds.
The similarities are due to the fact that 1-pentene is a primary product of the oxidation of n-pentane and the presence of intermediate unstable species (i.e., R[O.sub.2.sup.*] and [sup.*]QOOH) belonging to both hydrocarbons.

Volatile compounds were eluted from the cartridges using an organic solvent (n-pentane, n-hexane, dichloromethane, and methanol).
It is worth noting that different factors were assessed in the tests: SOR values of 4, 8, and 12; temperatures of 25 and 70[degrees]C; type of solvent (n-pentane or n-heptane); and nanoparticles dosage.
Approximately 50 mg of anhydrous fat or oil was weighed and added to 1 mL of n-pentane. The mixture was stirred to completely dissolve the fat, then, added to 200 [micro]L of 2N sodium pentoxide in pentanol, and stirred for 2 min.
Eleven examined working fluids can be sorted according to their thermal and exergy efficiencies from high to low performances as cyclohexane, n-hexane, R-113, n-pentane and Iso-pentane, R-245fa, n-butane, Iso-butane, RC-318 and R-236fa, and at last R-227ea.

Densities of saturated liquid and vapor phases of the compounds involved in this work were obtained from the correlations of Lemmon and Span for toluene (34), Span and Wagner for n-pentane (35), Wu et al.

Asphaltenes were precipitated with n-pentane. The pentane-soluble fraction was separated into chemical class fractions by liquid chromatography which consisted of 10 cm x 1.0 cm glass column packed with silica, Bondesil sorbent, pre-treated at 105[degrees]C for two hours prior to use.
Also in the running are hydrocarbons--isopentane, n-pentane, and cyclopentane--costing 50cents to 90cents/lb, as well as liquid, methyl-formate based Ecomate from Foam Supplies, which is used in spray-foam insulation and integral-skin foams for bicycle seats, golf-cart tires, and automotive headrests.
