eosinophilic oesophagitisA benign, possibly allergic condition, which affects young males with dysphagia.
Symptoms of gastrooesophageal reflux disease—e.g., epigastric and chest pain, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, regurgitation, dysphagia with motility disturbances; often associated with extra-intestinal allergic symptoms (e.g., asthma, chronic rhinitis, eczema). May present late with strictures.
White punctate lesions, white exudate, ringed appearance, linear furrows.
Reflux oesophagitis, oesophageal leiomyomatosis, eosinophilic gastroenteritis.
Corticosteroids, dietary restriction.

Dysphagia and heartburn resulting from allergy to inhaled or consumed antigens. Biopsies of the esophagus reveals infiltration of the mucosa by eosinophils. It is treated with corticosteroids.
