Mainly harmless fluids used to rinse out the mouth, leaving it feeling pleasantly refreshed for a few minutes. They serve little or no medical purpose and are no substitute for good mouth hygiene and regular dental attention.
The participants were asked to answer questions from a short questionnaire regarding their oral hygiene practices such as tooth brushing frequency, use of interdental brushes, and the use of mouthwashes during orthodontic treatment.

Since these two plants are often popularly referred to for the control of halitosis, and on the assumption that they possess antimicrobial activity in the mouth, we used these plants in this study in the form of mouthwashes to assess their ability to reduce the formation of VSC produced by proteolytic bacteria.
