A nonspecific descriptive term for a histiocyte seen in amebiasis, where the ragged cell contour differs from the smooth rounded margins of the Entamoeba histolytica trophozoites, which are further distinguished from histiocytes by the presence of ingested erythrocytes within the amoeba and by their PAS positivity
