gene cloning

The identification and isolation of a gene and the production of a number of identical copies of it.

gene cloning

the technique of genetic engineering in which specific genes are excised from host DNA, inserted into a VECTOR (2) and introduced into a host cell, which then divides to produce many copies (clones) of the transferred gene.
