Microsporideaa group corresponding to the Microspora, originally considered to be a phylum of Protozoans, which is given kingdom-equivalent status in more modern classifications. The members of the group are obligate, intracellular parasites in many animals, particularly arthropods and fish. see CLASSIFICATION.
