a dopamine receptor antagonist and prokinetic agent that stimulates gastric motility, used as the hydrochloride salt as an antiemetic, an aid in gastrointestinal radiology and intestinal intubaion, and in treatment of gastroparesis and gastroesophageal reflux; administered orally, intravenously, or intramuscularly.

metoclopramideAn ANTIEMETIC drug also useful in the control of severe heartburn (REFLUX OESOPHAGITIS) in HIATUS HERNIA. The drug is on the WHO official list. Brand names are Gastrobid Continus, Gastromax and Maxolon. The drug is also formulated with paracetamol as a MIGRAINE treatment under the brand name Paramax.
