CES2(redirected from Methylumbelliferyl-acetate deacetylase 2)
CES2A gene on chromosome 16q22.1 that encodes a carboxylesterase which plays a role in detoxifying xenobiotics (e.g., cocaine and heroin) and in activating ester and amide prodrugs. It is primarily expressed in the intestine, and less so in the liver. CES2 is also a less preferred gene symbol for what is now designated as CES1, see there.
