Medtronic Hall valve(redirected from Medtronic Hall-Kaster tilting disc)
Medtronic Hall valveA tilting-disc-type mechanical prosthesis used to replace a defective aortic valve.
First implanted in 1977, a 25-year followup study of 816 patients receiving the valve revealed minimal complications—thromboembolism, 1.5%/patient-year; Warfarin-related bleeding, 0.7%/patient-year; and endocarditis, 0.16%/patient-year—and no mechanical failures.
