MHRAMedicines and Healthcare Regulatory Authority. An executive agency of the UK Department of Health which is responsible for ensuring that medicines and medical devices work, and are acceptably safe. It was created in 2003 from the merger of the Medicines Control Agency and the Medical Devices Agency.
