MAT B1(redirected from Maternity Certificate B1)
MAT B1A form that provides medical evidence of pregnancy, which is given to an employee by her doctor or midwife showing the expected date of confinement (childbirth). The employee then gives it to her employer to request maternity leave, which is a statutory right in the UK. Evidence is acceptable if it is signed from the start of the 20th week before the expected week of childbirth. While the MAT B1 is the standard, an employer can accept other medical evidence of pregnancy, providing it shows the due date.
