Martha Stewart Syndrome

(1) A ‘condition’ described by D. Lypchuk, in which the victim is obsessed with planning parties, decorating, and other irrelevant post-modern activities
(2) A ‘condition’ in which a person, usually understood to be a housewife, feels compelled to perform each household task—cooking, cleaning, gardening—as perfectly—i.e., à la Martha Stewart—as possible
