Macaca mulatta

The rhesus monkey, whose red cells are agglutinated by an antibody that also agglutinates the blood cells of 83% of people (rhesus positive people). The ANTIGEN that stimulates the production of this antibody was originally found in the blood of Macaca mulatta and the antibody was first isolated from the serum of rabbits and guinea pigs immunized against the red cells of the monkey.
