MMP12

A gene on chromosome 11q22.3 that encodes matrix metalloproteinase 12, which degrades soluble and insoluble elastin and thus is thought to be involved in tissue injury and remodelling.

Molecular pathology
MMP12 may play a key role in aneurysm formation and emphysema.

UVB exposure increased protein levels of MMP1, MMP9, MMP12, and MMP13, but MHY498 treatment reduced them (Figure 4(a)).
Western blotting was performed to detect protein levels of MMP1, MMP9, MMP12, MMP13, and [beta]-actin (n = 4/group) (a).
Angiostatin is released by MMP2, MMP3, MMP7, MMP9, MMP12, MMP13 and MMP20 [20].
MMP2, MMP7, MMP9 [114], and MMP12 [117] cleave plasminogen into angiostatin which promotes endothelial apoptosis and inhibits endothelial cell proliferation.
Our results suggest that variants of MMP12 are determinants of the level of lung function in subjects who are at risk for airflow obstruction," said Dr.
The investigators tested for an association between single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the MMP12 gene and lung function as assessed by forced expiratory volume in 1 second ([FEV.
Finally, the investigators found that the same MMP12 variant appeared to protect patients at risk for COPD against the disease in those same three adult cohorts.
MMP-1, MMP-2, MMP-3, MMP-7, MMP-8, MMP-9, MMP12, and MMP-13 were simultaneously measured using the Fluorokine MultiAnalyte Profiling assays (R&D Systems) on a Luminex 100 Bioanalyzer (Luminex.
Among the genes of the MMPs family spotted on our array, MMP1, MMP12 (macrophage elastase), MMP14, and MMP-19 had enhanced expression in subjects from the high-level arsenic exposure group.
