MMP12

A gene on chromosome 11q22.3 that encodes matrix metalloproteinase 12, which degrades soluble and insoluble elastin and thus is thought to be involved in tissue injury and remodelling.

Molecular pathology
MMP12 may play a key role in aneurysm formation and emphysema.
