MIRAS

Multiple isomorphous replacement with anomalous scattering. A technique that is the most common approach to solving the phase problem in X-ray crystallography, which consists of soaking the crystal sample of interest in a heavy-atom solution, or co-crystallisation with the heavy atom. The electron density data is then used to resolve macromolecular structures.
