HSPA5A gene on chromosome 9q33.3 that encodes a member of the heat shock 70 (HSP70) family which is localised in the lumen of the endoplasmic reticulum, where it is involved in protein folding and assembly.
HSPA5 is an autoantigen implicated in the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis.
