MCH is a 19-amino acid neuropeptide encoded by the Pmch gene and can bind to 2 G-protein-coupled receptors, the MCH receptor 1 (MCHR1) and MCH receptor 2 (MCHR2).
These physiological functions are mediated by melanin-concentrating hormone receptor 1 (MCHR1) and melanin-concentrating hormone receptor 2 (MCHR2) in the G protein-coupled receptor family.
