KIF2CA gene on chromosome 1p34.1 that encodes a microtubule-dependent molecular motor protein that transports organelles within cells and move chromosomes during cell division. KIF2C protein is important for anaphase chromosome segregation and may be required to co-ordinate sister centromere separation.
