SETD1A(redirected from Lysine N-methyltransferase 2F)
SETD1AA gene on chromosome 16p11.2 that encodes a histone methyltransferase which specifically methylates Lys-4 of histone H3 when it forms part of the SET1 histone methyltransferase (HMT) complex, but not if the neighbouring Lys-9 residue is not already methylated. H3 Lys-4 methylation is a specific tag for epigenetic transcriptional activation; SETD1A and SETD1B are thought to make non-redundant contributions to the epigenetic control of chromatin structure and gene expression.
