Neurology A system for staging severity of neurologic impairment in Reye syndrome Lovejoy's classification–coma stages in Reye syndrome
I Vomiting, lethargy, sleepiness
II Disorientation, delirium, combativeness, ↑ ventilation, ↑ reflexes, normal response to noxious stimuli
III Obtunded, comatose, decorticate positioning; intact cranial nerves and oculomotor reflexes, inappropriate response to noxious stimuli
IV Deepening coma, decerebrate rigidity, fixed dilated pupils, caloric stimulation causes dysconjugate eye movement, oculovestibular reflexes lost
V Flaccid paralysis, deep tendon and respiratory reflexes absent, seizures
