local MDT(redirected from Local multidisciplinary team)
local MDTLocal multidisciplinary team. A group of UK health professionals who meet regularly in a particular NHS trust to discuss the management of individual patients with cancers in specific body regions—e.g., local colorectal MDT, urology MDT—which occur in the population serviced by the trust. Most local MDTs have a lead radiologist, lead histopathologist, lead surgeon, oncologist, cancer nurse, as well as one or two administrative staff members to coordinate logistics of ensuring that patients are booked in the appropriate services at the appropriate times and the patients’ care remains in place and effective.
