MAP3K13An oncogene on chromosome 3q27 that encodes a MAPK kinase kinase belonging to a protein kinase signal transduction cascade. MAP3K13 activates the JUN N-terminal pathway by activating the MAP kinase kinase MAP2K7. It acts synergistically with PRDX3 to regulate kinase-dependent NF-kappaB activation in the cytosol, which involves activating the IKK complex, the IKBKB-containing complex that phosphorylates inhibitors of NF-kappaB.
Each mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway is a conserved cascade of three protein kinases: an activated MAPK kinase kinase (MAPKKK) phosphorylates and activates a specific MAPK kinase (MAPKK), which in turn activates a specific MAPK.
