Lernaea

a genus of crustaceans in the class Crustacea which attach themselves to the skin of freshwater fish causing ulceration. Affected fish swim sluggishly and grow poorly, and the mortality may be heavy. L. ciprinacea is the common species. Called also anchor worms.
