silverfish

(sĭl′vĕr-fĭsh″)
An insect, Ctenolepisma longicaudata, whose scales are often found in house dust, are antigenic, and may be a cause of childhood and adult perennial allergies and asthma. This house pest may be controlled with the use of insecticides.
