Lange’s gold sol test

An obsolete test for abnormal proteins in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in which a colloidal gold solution was added to serial dilutions of CSF; the resulting colour changes were formerly thought to be specific for neurosyphilis, or by later workers, multiple sclerosis.
