a genus of mites in the family Laminosioptidae.

Laminosioptes cysticola
cause small, flat, oval nodules in the subcutaneous tissue of fowls. Called also cyst mites.

The acarid Laminosioptes cysticola (Acariformes: Laminosioptidae, Vizioli, 1870), the fowl cyst mite, is a parasite principally oi the subcutaneous (SC) tissues of chickens and other avian species.
The microscopical observation of the SC collagen enabled the visualization of free (Figure 1C) and encysted (Figure 1D) Laminosioptes cysticola.
The occurrence of Laminosioptes cysticola in Brazil has been previously described (REIS, 1939; REIS, 1956), although no further scientific report was found.
