LEFTY2

A gene on chromosome 1q42.1 that encodes a member of the transforming growth factor beta (TGFB) family of cytokines that plays a role in determining left-right asymmetry during organogenesis and may also play a role in endometrial bleeding.

Molecular pathology
LEFTY2  mutations are associated with left-right axis malformations, especially in the heart and lungs; some types of infertility are associated with dysregulated LEFTY2 expression in the endometrium.

LEFTYA es otro morfogeno, descrito como antagonico a Nodal, que actua como mediador de enzimas proteoliticas denominadas metaloproteinasas (MMP1, MMP3 y MMP9), que se relacionan con la degradacion de la funcion uterina.
Some studies have demonstrated that human orthologue of the Nodal signaling genes, ACVR2B (12), LEFTYA (13) and CFC1 (14), were mutated in patients with heterotaxia.
