Most recently (and egregiously), Hezbollah and the
LAF launched joint military operations this summer against Islamic State militants along the Lebanon-Syria border.
The
LAF manned a defensive line to the west while Hezbollah deployed in a line of mountain-top outposts to the north and south of the militants.
"The government had always provided allocations for the
LAF in previous years, however for 2015, this particular outlay was conspicuously not included in the budget under the National Expenditure Programme for that year," he said.
During the hearing, she alleged DFA also revealed it spent no
LAF for Mary Jane Veloso's trial in Indonesia.
Aside from the dwindling budget for the OFW
LAF, Binay noted other anti-OFWs policies under the Aquino administration like the collection of the P550.00 terminal fee at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), which RA 10022 exempts them from paying, and the Bureau of Customs' (BOC) earlier proposal to open balikbayan boxes and tax personal items.
The weapons deal comes as the
LAF battles to hold back the spill-over from the Syrian war.
