Etymology: Wilhelm Löffler, Swiss physician, 1887-1972
a benign idiopathic disorder marked by episodes of pulmonary eosinophilia, transient opacities in the lungs, anorexia, breathlessness, fever, and weight loss. Recovery is spontaneous and prompt. Also spelled Loeffler's syndrome. See also pulmonary infiltrate with eosinophilia.
