Q. My very close friend who is 78 kg now seeks help to reduce his weight. My very close friend who is 78 kg now seeks help to reduce his weight. He has researched his best to find some solution and found great tips about diet. But now he wants to know could he lift weights?

A. there's no reason why he won't be able (unless you haven't mentioned a health problem he has). it can even help as Johnson mentioned, but i recommend consulting a nutritionist. some people start diets and then start working out, not knowing they should change their diet to a workout diet. and it can cause damage and sabotage the efforts of building up muscles.
