CDH16

A gene on chromosome 16q22.1 that encodes cadherin 16, which is expressed exclusively in kidney, where it plays a central role in nephrogenesis. CDH16 is also a less preferred gene symbol for what is now designated CDH17, see there.

Details on the measurement of mRNAs encoded by CDH16 [6] (cadherin 16, KSP-cadherin), HIF1A [hypoxiainducible factor 1, a subunit (basic helix-loop-helix transcription factor)], HPRT1 (hypoxanthine phosphoribosyltransferase 1), PPIA [peptidylprolyl isomerase A (cyclophilin A)], KLK3 (kallikrein-related peptidase 3; also known as PSA), and TBP (TATA box binding protein) are provided in Supplemental Text 1, Table 2, A and B, and Fig.
Significant increase in the expression levels of mRNA and protein for the E-, P-, and Ksp-Cadherins were observed in HPT cells and HK-2 MT-3 cells compared to that of HK-2 cells transfected with the blank vector.
