KRT1 A gene on chromosome 12q13.13 that encodes a type-II cytokeratin that is specifically co-expressed in the spinous and granular layers of the epidermis with KRT10.
KRT1 mutations are associated with bullous congenital ichthyosiform erythroderma, ichthyosis hystrix and Curth-Macklin type.
