KLK8(redirected from KLK8 protein type 1)
KLK8A gene on chromosome 19q13.3 that encodes a serine protease that catalyses the degradation of casein, fibrinogen, kininogen, fibronectin and collagen type IV. It cleaves L1CAM in response to increased neural activity, and induces neurite outgrowth and fasciculation of cultured hippocampal neurons.
