GRIN3A(redirected from KIAA1973)
GRIN3AA gene on chromosome 9q31.1 that encodes a subunit of N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptors, which belong to the glutamate receptor channel superfamily. NMDA receptors consist of multiple subunits arranged to form a ligand-gated ion channel, which play a key role in long-term potentiation and the plasticity of synapses (central to memory and learning). GRIN3A forms a complex with GRIN1, GRIN2A, -2B, -2C or -2D and PPP2CB; it may play a role in PPP2CB-NMDAR mediated signalling and in the development of dendritic spines. It is expressed in foetal brain.
