ARID2

A gene on chromosome12q12 that encodes as protein involved in transcriptional activation and repression of select genes by chromatin remodelling (by altering DNA-nucleosome topology). ARID2 is required for stabilising the SWI/SNF chromatin remodelling complex SWI/SNF-B (PBAF); it may play a role in targeting the complex to different genes, and may be involved in regulating transcriptional activation of cardiac genes. ARID2 is highly expressed in the heart and testes.
