KDM2B

KDM2B

A gene on chromosome 12q24.31 that encodes lysine-specific demethylase 2B, which demethylates histone H3. KDM2B preferentially binds the transcribed region of ribosomal RNA, represses ribosomal RNA gene transcription and inhibits cell growth and proliferation. It may also serve as a substrate-recognition component of the SCF (SKP1-CUL1-F)-box protein-type E3 ubiquitin ligase complex.
