 [i″so-eth´ah-rēn]
a sympathomimetic amine having more effect on the β2-adrenergic receptors of the bronchi and vascular smooth muscle than on the β1-adrenergic receptors of the heart; used as a bronchodilator in bronchial asthma and for relief of bronchospasm in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
