IRF3
A gene on chromosome 19q13.3-q13.4 that encodes a member of the interferon regulatory transcription factor (IRF) family. IRF3 is inactive in the cytoplasm, but after serine/threonine phosphorylation forms a complex with CREBBP; the IRF3/CREBBP complex translocates to the nucleus and activates transcription of interferons alpha and beta, as well as interferon-induced genes.Segen's Medical Dictionary. © 2012 Farlex, Inc.
